Ever look around your home and think: I should have people over more often. And then, because it seems like too much work, you just... don't? Well, as the weather turns cooler and you find yourself wanting to stay inside, we're here to reassure you: You can be the host with the most, and it doesn't have to take all day! In fact, you can find everything you need to entertain right here at First Canadian Place and Exchange Tower, with very minimal effort on your part. You're welcome.
A fabulous dinner party
Set a table people won't forget without slaving over a hot stove all day. The food: Start with catering from Market by Longo's (try a pre-made or custom cheese board and then build your own menu from their assortment of catering options). For dessert, Lindt chocolates and coffee from Pilot Coffee Roasters. The drinks: A bottle of Marquis de Goulaine Vouvray 2017 off-dry Chenin Blanc and a bottle of Esporão Red Reserve Alentejo. The LCBO stocks both. The décor: Pistil will prepare show-stopping small vase arrangements to bring your dinner table to life with a mix of hydrangeas, roses, orchids, and dahlias.
A classy cocktail night
Host an evening with a bevvy of bevvies. The drinks: Stop into IndigoSpirit to pick up Robert Simonson's 3-Ingredient Cocktails: An Opinionated Guide to The Most Enduring Drinks in The Cocktail Canon. Then hit up the LCBO for your spirits. The food: Try just about anything from Bon Appetit's Carla Lalli Music's book, Where Cooking Begins: Uncomplicated Recipes to Make You a Great Cook. The décor: Add notes of peppermint, eucalyptus and lemon to your party with Saje's Refresh diffuser blend. Chin chin!
An easygoing luncheon
Invite your friends over for a relaxed weekend lunch and stay relaxed the whole time. The food: Pick up some sandwiches from Forno Cultura - choose from mushroom ricotta on focaccia, Tuscan chicken on sourdough, spicy salami, or their famous chocolate sourdough with porchetta and banana peppers. And don't forget the biscotti. They have 15 types on offer, including coffee-espresso with currants and pistachio hazelnut with dark chocolate. The drinks: Brew up some matcha teas (think vanilla, pumpkin pie, or peach) from DAVIDsTEA for a perfect warm fall beverage.
